Born in New York and raised in Charlotte, NC, Dick developed an early interest in broadcasting and built his own neighborhood radio station. He soon landed a job at a Charlotte radio station at the age of 12. He's a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill with a major in Radio, Television and Motion Pictures. His work experience includes programming and production management positions with WWOK, WSOC, and WBT, WUNC-TV, WDNC, and WRDU-TV. He also served in the Air Force as program director and morning show personality with the American Forces Thailand Network. For over 22 years, he was production manager and iterim program director at Raleigh's WPTF/WQDR.
Musically, Dick's mother -a teacher and classical pianist- guided him to an early appreciation of classical music. He was trained as a jazz and popular music pianist and perfomed in a dance band. In his spare time, he enjoys working with computers, singing in area church choirs, attending concerts and shows, and travling to Britain. |
